About this deal

Children under 1: Seek HCP advice before use. Adults: Add 20ml to a standard bath of warm water (8 inches deep). Infants and Children: Add 5ml to a small bath (25 litres) or washbasin of warm water. Immerse and cover the affected areas and soak for 10-20 minutes. Alternatively, gently sponge over the affected areas repeatedly. Pat dry with a towel. Date of preparation: Not in Nottinghamshire emollient formulary. Use alternative if a leave on emollient is required -see formulary for options. Bath additives disperse easily in water and provide a soothing treatment for dry skin during bathing. They can be particularly useful for treating younger people with dry skin, like babies and children, where more regular application of emollients can be difficult. Zeroderma bath additives:

Epimax ®ointment - First line option for severe dry skin as per Notts Emollient Formulary. Comparable to Hydromol ®, Zeroderm ®,Cetraben ®, and Epaderm ®. Epimax ® original cream - First line option for moderately dry skin as per Notts Emollient Formulary. Comparable to Zerobase ®, Cetraben ® and Diprobase ®.Grey / Non-Formulary (undergoing assessment): Work is ongoing and will be reviewed at a future APC meeting. Indications: Used for the relief of symptoms of flaking, dry skin, ichthyosis, dermatitis, the dry stage of eczema and dry cases of psoriasis For use as a barrier and moisturiser for the symptomatic relief of dermatitis, ichthyosis, eczema, nappy rash, protection of dry skin areas, pruritus and related skin conditions where dry scaly skin is a problem. It can be used as a pre-bathing emollient or as an alternative to soap to alleviate drying effects. Adverse reactions: Paraffin-free emollients should be reserved for patients who are intolerant/unsuitable for paraffin containing emollients due to increased fire hazard risks despite appropriate counselling. Indicated for use on patients with larger scars or someone who has undergone a skin graft operation or suffered a burn, who will be at a higher risk of scarring

Creams are ideal for mild to moderate dry skin conditions, they’re easy to use and are well absorbed.
