About this deal
Everything that was or should be, all mixed together in a soup of being: of shouting and jumping and bumping. While London prepares for Queen Victoria’s Jubilee, the city gets shaken up by the break-out of England’s most wanted criminal, the famous escapologist Jack Door. If you want a fun adventure, fit for young and old alike, jump into Peter Bunzl's Cogheart Adventures.
Now Lily and Malkin, the mechanical fox, must stay one step ahead before Jack plays his final, deadly card. The book gets dark and violent sometimes, which was good because I often find middle-grade books writing about, for example, a dangerous man who has killed someone yet he barely harms anyone in the book.
Peter's debut novel, Cogheart, has been shortlisted for lots of awards, including the Waterstones Children's Book Prize.
Secrets from Robert’s past start unraveling faster than the pair can understand the dangers they place them in. Lily struggles with her father’s overprotectiveness and wishes she could prove herself, and Robert especially has to make some difficult decisions. There’s no point living in fear of what might be when it prevents you enjoying the freedom of what is.However, this one also discussed family dynamics and I think this story did well in showing that not every family is happy and perfect.
