Description

In this novel Blunt asks Alex Rider to investigate Hugo Grief at the Point Blanc Academy in the French Alps, under the alias of Alex Friend. After the Battle of Point Blanc, Alan debriefs Alex, claiming that the fifteen of Grief's 'children' will be silently executed. He is oblivious, however, to the existence of Julius Grief. Blunt is dedicated to his job and has a very analytical mind, and is shown to be an aloof, impassive, cold and ruthless man. Like many spy-masters in popular culture, Blunt is portrayed as being emotionally unattached, to the point of misanthropy, to anything he does and whatever he uses. Although this shows him to be very ruthless and callous, it shows that he is incredibly dedicated to his job. Despite saying that Scorpia Rising would be Alex's last adventure Anthony Horowitz has since written more novels, starting with Never Say Die.

His role in the series has been compared to that of Alec Trevelyan (aka Agent 006/ Janus) from the James Bond movie GoldenEye.

a b "Alex Pettyfer Interview - Stormbreaker Movie, Stunts, Playing Alex Rider". Archived from the original on 2007-12-17 . Retrieved 2007-01-06. Zeljan Kurst, former leader of SCORPIA, is asked by Yannis Ariston Xenopolos, a Greek billionaire suffering from terminal cancer, to return the Elgin Marbles to Greece. He is promised €40 million, half in advance. MI6 found out about the visit and tried to capture him due to a snitch who was given a change of identity in exchange, but Scorpia agents in the museum (disguised as visitors) help Kurst escape. Alex is adopted by Edward Pleasure, Sabina Pleasure's father, who is confident Alex will get better with his family. The ascendant in Scorpio suggests that your first years were pretty turbulent. People with this placement often grow up in a home without stability.

Blunt had some involvement in Ark Angel, appearing to visit Alex in the hospital after Scorpia’s assassination attempt. Julius Grief was very fit, competing with his brothers in two-mile runs across the snow in the Alps whilst under training, and able to outpace the prison guards during his fierce escape. He was a very fast runner and has incredible reflexes, shown many times, namely during both duels with Alex Rider. Both Mellish and Chumley are extremely dangerous, responsible for the deaths of fifty agents all over Europe The Measurement of Pain 37surement for something we experience almost every dayof our lives. “There has never been a measurement for pain. “Can you imagine how useful it would be if you wentto the dentist and he was able to reassure you? ‘Don’tworry, my dear fellow, this is going to hurt only two anda half units.’ Or if you went to the doctor with a damagedknee and were able to tell him that it hurt three unitsdown here—but seven-point-five units up here, above theknee? Of course, it is very difficult to measure pain. It alldepends on how our nerves react and what the stimulusis—the knife, electricity, fire, acid—that has caused thepain. But I still believe it is possible to develop a universalscale. And I very much hope that one day the unit of painwill indeed be named after me. The Razim. And peoplewill be able to say exactly how many Razims will result incertain death.” Fontaine was staring at Razim as if seeing him for thefirst time. “You’re mad,” he whispered. “All the great inventors have a certain madness,” Razimagreed. “They said the same of Galileo and Einstein. It iswhat I would expect you to say.” “Please . . .” “I would also expect you to beg. But I’m afraid it willdo you no good.” Razim leaned over the trolley and considered. It wouldbe interesting to see how long this Frenchman would survive. Of course, for the sake of accuracy, he would have Razim is similar to Shirō Ishii, the Japanese scientist who directed immoral medical experiments, often unanesthetised vivisections, on war prisoners during World War II. Isshi believed that his experiments had scientific value and that he was benefiting the medical fields through his experiments, similarly to Razim, who conducts his experiments so that he can present a scientific measurement of pain to the scientific community.Dr. Greif's clones are not to be executed, and Julius Grief is not present in this season, but otherwise Alan Blunt acts as in the book Point Blanc. More coverage of his involvement in the Point Blanc investigation is shown in the series however, with Alan taking an active role in investigating one of the suspected clones, interrogating him when it's confirmed, and even interrogating Dr. Greif himself. It is revealed that Nightshade is on the other side of the world, and the Teachers are studying Alex. Although Leap of Faith had failed intolerably, they are going to go after him.

Razim is studying the issue of pain, with the aim to come up with a measurable unit of pain, naming it after himself, by torturing all kinds of members of society, with a teenager being the top of his wish list, as he explains when exposing a French agent to the same experience. Cray takes the two teenagers with him when his men seize Air Force One, and shoots Gregorovich when the Russian refuses to kill the children. He then fires at Alex, seemingly killing him, and gets into a fight with Sabina. This is interrupted when Alex recovers (having worn a bulletproof vest), and with Sabina, shoves Cray out of the plane and into one of the turbines, vaporising him instantly and forcing the pilot (Henryk) to make a crash landing. Razim wishes to create a measurable unit of pain, which he would name after himself. To do this, he uses horrific medical instruments to inflict systematic pain on innocent people he captures and uses machines to record the pain they feel. He does not stop until the test subjects are killed. It is implied that many of his experiments involve vivisection.

In the film Stormbreaker, Blunt was portrayed by Bill Nighy, and in the TV series he is portrayed by Stephen Dillane.

Ali Glasim, the oldest man in the facility. Started worked in Iraqi torture, joined the weapons inspectorate, looking for nuclear missiles. He was stealing them and selling to anyone who could pay, including the Millers Giovanni was born first, with Eduardo following five seconds later. Similarly, when Alex caused their train S C O R P I A R I S I N Gaccelerated. There was a thud as the man hit the fenderand he was hurled out of the way.Two hours later, a man in a blond wig, wearing sunglassesand holding a huge bunch of flowers, boarded the Eurostar train to Paris. Zeljan Kurst hated these disguises, butit was something else he had learned in his long career. Ifyou’re trying not to be seen, it often helps to make yourself as prominent as possible. The flowers and the wigwere ridiculous, and although the police and MI6 werelooking for him all over London, they certainly wouldn’tassociate them with him. As he settled into his prebooked seat in first class andsipped his complimentary glass of champagne, Kurst’smind was focused on the problem he had been given. Theshoot-out at the museum was already forgotten. Thequestion was—who would be the best person to handlethis quite interesting business of the Elgin marbles? There were now twelve members of Scorpia, includinghim, and he mentally went over them one by one. Levi Kroll, the former Israeli agent who, in a momentof carelessness, had shot out his own eye? Mikato, theJapanese policeman turned Yakuza gangster? Dr. Three?Or perhaps this might be an opportunity for their newestrecruit. He had the sort of mind that would enjoy working out a problem of this complexity, along with the ruthlessness to see it through to the end. There was a blast of a whistle and the train moved off.Dr. Raymond Feng is the main antagonist of the short story Spy Trap. Nearly nothing is known about him.
